Robert wait until she crawled back in bed before he wrapped his arms around her. It had been a struggle not to go to her but he knew that if she wanted wanted him then Virginia would have returned to the bed right away. Instead he gave her the time to compose herself or whatever it was she was doing. Hoping, praying, that she wasn't drinking or taking any pills. Robert had to trust his wife though that she wouldn't give in, especially not over something like a nightmare.

"I love you too," he said, kissing the top of her head as he held her close. He couldn't protect her dreams but Robert could keep her close and hope that reassured her that all was well. "You're a good woman, a good wife, and a good mother."
